Donate your stuffed animals to our military!

SAFE is currently working with AdoptaPlatoon to get stuffed animal donations to our troops overseas.  It may seem like a very small gesture but your donation can actually protect our troops while at war.  Please see this letter below from a soldier in Ohio who was writing to his parents about how donations of stuffed animals have really helped them:

Mom,

Just wanted to write to you and tell you another story about an experience we had over here. As you know, I asked for toys for the Iraqi children over here and several Americans send them over by the box. On each patrol through the city, we take as many toys as will fit in our pockets and hand them out as we can. The kids take the toys and run to show them off as if they were worth a million bucks. We are as friendly as we can be to everyone we see, but especially so with the kids. Most of them don't have any idea what is going on and are completely innocent of this.

On one such patrol, the lead security vehicle stopped in the middle of the street. This is not normal and is very unsafe, so the following vehicles began to inquire over the radio. The lead vehicle reported a little girl sitting in the road and said she would not budge. The command vehicle told the lead vehicle to simply go around her and to be kind as they did. The street was wide enough to allow this maneuver and so they waved to her as they drove around.

As the vehicles went around her, a marine soon saw her sitting there and in her arms she was clutching a little beanie baby bear that he had handed her a few patrols back. Feeling an immediate connection to the girl, the marine radioed that they were going to stop. The rest of the convoy paused and the marine got out to make sure she was okay. The little girl looked scared and concerned, but there was a warmth in her eyes toward him. As he knelt down to talk to her, she moved over and pointed to a mine in the road.

Immediately a cordon was set as the Marine convoy assumed a defensive posture around the site. The mine was destroyed in place.

Love,
Your Son

As you can see your donation of stuffed animals to our troops can really make a difference.  If you are interested in donating to AdoptaPlatoon please see our chapters page listed under Texas for more information.  Thanks so much for wanting to help SAFE and our military!

UPDATE:  As of 2/19/2013 we now have $225.00!!  Thank you so much for all who have donated!

Thank you so much for visiting our site!

Stuffed Animals For Emergencies (SAFE) is a 16-year-old non-profit organization run completely by volunteers (we call them chapter members).  We collect various items such as stuffed animals, books, children's/baby blankets and children's clothes to benefit children during emergency situations such as fires, illness, accidents, neglect, abuse, homelessness and even weather emergencies such as tornadoes, floods and hurricanes.  We also donate the items we receive to other children's organizations, military organizations, libraries and even nursing homes.  We accept new and gently used items for donation.  This is a great way to reuse and recycle stuffed animals, books, children's/baby blankets and children's clothes that so many people have in their homes and just don't know what to do with.  When we receive donations we go through and clean the items and then donate them to emergency organizations to be given directly to children in emotional, traumatic or stressful situations.  Your donation can really make a difference for a child when they need it most!

Currently we have 21 chapters throughout the United States.  Please visit our Chapters page to find a chapter in your area or listings of other organizations we partner with.  If you are interested in opening your own chapter, please visit our Opening a Chapter page for more information.

Thank you again for visiting our site and if you have any further questions please 'Contact Us' for more info!

SAFE is currently working on our 501(c)3 status!

Stuffed Animals For Emergencies has been helping children in traumatic situations for 15 years and we are experiencing such tremendous growth that we feel in order to offer even more help to children in need we need to achieve our tax-deductible status so we are currently working on the steps we need to take to receive 501(c)3 status!

SAFE is registered in the state of Ohio currently as a nonprofit and we are also an incorporated nonprofit.  We are working on gathering the funds needed currently to apply for 501(c)3 status and we will update this section of our front page as we move along.

Currently we DO NOT HAVE 501(c)3 status so any donations made are NOT tax deductible and therefore we CANNOT provide a tax receipt.  We can however provide a certificate of appreciation but this again is NOT tax deductible.  Please contact Jennifer at jenalloy15@gmail.com if you are interested in this after you have made your donation.

Thank you so much for wanting to help SAFE and we hope to be getting our 501(c)3 status very soon!
